It just seems like there is no end to the false doctrines that the Bible translators have caused to be developed by our Bible teachers. I’m sure they meant to do a good thing when they added words to the original scriptures in order to improve the readability of the Bible and it probably was needed. The problem that came about was when our Bible teachers determined in their own minds that some of these added words meant something other than was the case they actually meant.
Let me try this and keep it as simple as I can.
Some passages in the Bible read as follows concerning the words preceding the phrase “the foundation of the World”.
Example #1 reads: “Before the foundation of the World”.
Example #2 reads: “Since the foundation of the World”..
Example #3 reads: “From the foundation of the World”.
These three phrases are used at various places in the bible which I will quote as we precede.
Looking at example #1, there are three places in the Bible that states something concerning “Before the foundation of the World” as follows:
John 17:24: Father, I will that they also, whom you have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me: for you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Yes that is true; God did love Jesus before the foundation of the World because Jesus was in Heaven with the Father before the World was created.
Eph 1:4: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
This says that before the World was created, God knowing the time would come when He would send Jesus into the World and predestinated certain men to be the Lord’s apostles.
1 Peter 1:20: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
Peter states here that Jesus was ordained (chosen) to be the saviour of mankind before the World was created.
Example #2 appears only one time in the Bible; as follows:
Heb 9:26 for then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world has he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
The scripture says that Jesus could have come at an earlier time since the World began, but He came to suffer only once in the end times.
Now is where I have found the problem that has caused man’s interpretation to lead to a false doctrine being developed. Six places in the scripture there are statements that say the words “from the foundation of the World”.
In none of these six verses was the word “from” translated from a word in the original scriptures. Once again, the word “from” was not translated from the Greek in the original scriptures, but was added by the bible translators. This word “from” causes these verses to be read as though they mean “at the foundation of the World”, but “from” doesn’t mean “at”. A better word that should have been used and means the same thing as “from”, is the word “since”.
There is nothing wrong with using the word “from” in these verses; the problem is with our definition of what the word “from” really means.
Following are the six verses where the word “from” was used. For a better understanding of what these verses are saying, I have replaced the word “from” with the word “since”.
Mat 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret since the foundation of the world.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world:
Luke 11:50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed since the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished since the foundation of the world.
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain since the foundation of the world.
Rev 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life since the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Reading these verses with the word “since” used instead of the word “from”, gives a clearer understanding of when believer’s names were put on the Book of Life. They were put there after the foundation of the World, at that time when a person believed the gospel and accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
