When God Speaks

When God speaks to you what is your reaction, what do you do? When God speaks to your heart shouldn’t you act right then about what He has said to you? Do you recognize that God is speaking to you if He does it in a dream or by way of that still small voice that speaks to your mind, or through somebody else, or because of a circumstance that occurs that could not be a coincidence?

One important thing that you need to consider is that you need to determine whether it was God’s voice speaking to you or the devil’s. Do you know how to tell the difference?
The Bible points to something that can be applied in order to determine if the voice you hear is truly God’s voice informing you about something or instructing you to do something that would benefit the Kingdom of God, of which the Church is a part of. That method, which is contained many times in the scriptures, is as follows: “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word should be established”. There are six places in scripture where this appears as follows:

1.    Deuteronomy 17:6 where it says: “ at the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death, be put to death”.

2.    Deuteronomy 19:15 where it says: “at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.”

3.    Matthew 18:16 where it says: “in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”

4.    Second Corinthians 13:1 where it says: “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established”.

5.    First Timothy 5:19 where it says: “Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.”

6.    Hebrews 10:28 where it says: “He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses.”

There is one thing that you can have confidence in and that is, God will never tell you anything by any means that is in contradiction to Bible Scripture. This must be tested by your own examination of scripture to determine its reliability and not take any person’s word for it, no matter if that person is a preacher, a teacher, an evangelist, a pastor or a prophet. Anything that is revealed to you, by any means that contradicts bible scripture has its origin from satan. No matter if you are a believing Christian, no matter if you are certain that the Holy Spirit dwells in you or not and no matter if a supernatural sign points to the thing you have received or not, if it contradicts Bible scripture it is not from God. The Bible specifically points out in Revelations 13:13 that satan has the power to perform such things for his benefit through anyone that he chooses to use.

Paul the Apostle made a case that even if an Angel from Heaven preaches anything in contradiction to what he has preached it is wrong and that Angel must be accursed. God will not send anyone, even an Angel from Heaven that will preach anything that conflicts with pure Bible scripture.

Test everything that you receive, either from a dream or from the still small voice that speaks to your heart or from another person that says they speak what God has given them. Test everything from the “two or three witnesses” rule and be certain that Bible scripture is in agreement on some kind of basis with what you have received.

Now this final statement is for any of you that God has spoken to by one of His methods and you have failed to act upon the message from Him which has a Biblical basis, then you may have rejected God’s plan for you. If God showed you something in a dream that He wanted you to do and the devil hindered you, so for some reason you didn’t persevere to act upon it, then God is probably displeased at your failure to act upon His instruction. If God showed you something in a dream about someone He is using, but you rejected the notion, it was because satan hindered you from doing it.

Test everything that you encounter, if it was from God and would benefit His Kingdom ministry then it must be His will. If something that you believe was God’s will and you acted on it, but it was to mislead or harm someone, then it was not God’s will, instead the devil was behind it. The motive behind every action must be determined whether it was the desire to do good or evil. If it was to do good, then it must be from God. If it was to do harm, satan must be behind it. Do that which is good and please God and He will guide your steps in this life. Are you part of His plan for mankind? If so, then act upon what He guides you to do and reject the wiles of satan who only wants to hinder God’s plan.
