Adam and Eve, The First Persons on Earth?

Consider These Things

It has been a common belief that Adam and Eve who were created by God were the first persons to have lived on Earth, but that might not be the case. Archeological discoveries have proven beyond any doubt that humans inhabited the Earth before Adam and Eve were created. Prehistoric discoveries have produced skeletal remains of humans, manmade tools and other artifacts that have predated Adam and Eve in excess of 10,000 years and more. Even the account in the Bible leaves the door open that other people were on the Earth before Adam was put here.

The bible tells us that God created the Heavens and the Earth, but gives us no idea how long He took to do this. The creation of the Heavens and the Earth could have taken millions of years or it could have been done at the instant of God speaking them into existence.  The bible also tells us that God developed the Earth for the habitation of mankind in six days and He could have done it that fast or even faster, but those days being mentioned in the bible could have really been six ages or other periods of time. Just because some man determined to translate those periods of time into days instead of ages doesn’t make it to be the case.

The bible tells us that God created man in the sixth day of creation, both male and female and instructed them to replenish or fill the Earth with their  offspring. He also told them to take dominion over all the creatures on the Earth, both the water creatures, the fowl of the air, the cattle and every creature that was on the Earth.

Now it needs to be noted at this point that when God created the man Adam out of the dust of the ground he was not instructed to do these things of taking dominion over everything on the Earth, instead God shut him up in a garden by himself. There were no animals or fowl or fish or cattle, nor even a female in the garden, it was Adam all by himself. So it wasn’t Adam and Eve, the male and female He created to take dominion over everything on the Earth, it must have been someone other than Adam and Eve who were created before they were created.

So it is more than possible, it is probable that there were two creations of mankind that took place on the Earth. The first creation of male and female at the beginning of the stone age were probably those who we know as the cavemen. God gave them the instructions to eat of the fruit of the trees, the herbs of the field, both for them and the animals that were created, but God said nothing about them tilling the ground to farm crops for food.

Then later on, before the man Adam was created God realized that He needed a man with the knowledge and instinct to grow food from the dirt and took the dirt and made Adam. God didn’t command Adam to eat the herbs and the grass of the fields like He instructed the first people that He created.

Now let’s introduce some bible scripture that might also shed some light on the probability of two creations of mankind on the Earth. Let’s us examine the narrative concerning Cain, the son of Adam and Eve, who killed his brother Abel out of jealousy. Because of what Cain had done he was banished from his home and from the face of God. The bible tells us that Cain went out and lived in the land of Nod, just east of the Garden of Eden and took a wife there. Where did this woman come from? Some think that she might have been his sister, one of the daughters of Adam and Eve.

Now this all happened before Adam and Eve’s next son was born who was named Seth. According to the bible Seth was born before Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters, so this wife of Cain’s was probably not his sister. It without a doubt was from other inhabitants of the Earth, from the first creation of mankind.

Then here is something else to consider. Cain was afraid that everyone that would see him would kill him. Who could he have been afraid of? Those of his own family? No, he was afraid of the people that dwelled in other lands that would bring harm on him because he was different from them, a stranger coming into a land where people looked different than him. The bible tells us that God did something to Cain that would keep him safe. It says that He put a mark on Cain, but I don’t think that any kind of mark would have helped him. What I believe that God did to Cain was to change his looks so that he would blend in with these other people so they would accept him and not hurt him. Keep in mind that Cain would have looked like Adam who was made from the dust of the ground and may have had a different complexion than those who were created a different way.

Another example for us to look at is what happened in later generations that followed after Adam. The bible tells us that the sons of God took the daughters of men, of as many as they desired. Now these sons of God the bible speaks of was of the linage of Adam and these daughters of men were of the people of the first creation of mankind. Those people didn’t know God like those of the linage of Adam did and these women’s beliefs and lifestyle could have very well corrupted these men and caused them to conduct themselves in ways that was not pleasing to God.

There are some that teach these sons of God were fallen angels that took on flesh bodies and took the daughters of the linage of Adam to wife and bore children. That is nothing more than a fantasy about angels becoming flesh. Here again is another example where people of two different creations intermingled and cross bred out of the will of God.

So if you are still of the opinion that we all are descendents of Adam and Eve and believe all the erroneous teaching that you have been exposed to, that is your right to believe.

Is there a pure bloodline that extends from Adam down through the generations to any one of us? It’s possible, but not probable. As a matter of fact it is probably a very long shot. We could just as well be descendents of the people of the first creation as of those of Adam’s linage.

Is any of this important? Only to the extent that what we should believe is the words of the bible and not any man’s interpretation because of the effect of false teaching that has been passed down for years. The only thing that is very important is that we believe the Gospel of Christ that Jesus of Nazareth was the Son of God because of God’s spoken word and our hope of salvation to eternal life.
