The Three Signs given to Moses

An anonymous person commented on my posting named “Desperation” concerning the signs that God gave to Moses and the claim that William Branham received the same number of signs as Moses did as follows:

Anonymous said: “The scripture plainly says "two signs". The turning of water into blood was a plague, such as the locust and the frogs. Nowhere in the scriptures does it state "three signs."”

This is just another example of someone reading the scriptures and believing only what they want it to say for the sole purpose of attempting to vindicate the words of William Branham no matter what the scriptures state.

It is important to maintain the context of the scriptures according to the message they present to the reader. In Exodus chapter four, God is speaking to Moses about three signs he is being given for the purpose of convincing the Israelites that God has sent him to deliver the them out of Egypt. In Exodus chapter seven the signs that Moses exhibited and presented to Pharaoh was for the purpose of convincing Pharaoh that God had sent him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and to demonstrate to Pharaoh the power of God in order for him to believe that God had sent him.

Now let’s look at what the scriptures actually say, in the context that God intended for them to convey to the reader.

Exodus 4:1  And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, Jehovah has not appeared unto you. (2)  And Jehovah said unto him, What is that in your hand? And he said, A rod. (3)  And Jehovah said, Cast it on the ground. And Moses cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. (Sign #1) (4)  And Jehovah said unto Moses, Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail. And Moses put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: (5)  That they may believe that Jehovah God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared unto you. (6)  And Jehovah said furthermore unto him, Put now your hand into your bosom. And Moses put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. (7)  And Jehovah said, Put your hand into your bosom again. And Moses put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. (Sign #2) (8)  And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. (9)  And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which you take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land. (Sign #3)

Now when Moses presented himself to Pharaoh, Moses did not take the water out of the River and pour it upon dry ground to become blood, instead Moses told Aaron to strike the water of the River (Not pour it upon the ground) and when Aaron did so all of the water became as blood.

This should be clear to the reader that this was a sign to Pharaoh and a plague to the land of Egypt that was to demonstrate the power of God.

Let’s look at Exodus chapter seven:

Exodus 7:17  Thus says Jehovah, In this you shall know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in my hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood. (18)  And the fish that are in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink of the water of the river. (19)  And Jehovah spoke unto Moses and said: Say unto Aaron, Take your rod, and stretch out your hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone. (20)  And Moses and Aaron did so, as Jehovah commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

21  And the fish that were in the river died; and the river stunk, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

Everyone has the right to believe whatever they choose to believe, that is the choice that God has given each of us. Yes this is the free will gift of God to every person and with the exercise of that free will, to believe or disbelieve the scriptures will determine the judgment of God on us all according to the decision that we make.

God has given us His Word as it is written in the Bible and He expects us to believe His Word and not to interpret it and make it fit according to our personal desires.

The wise Apostle Paul once told Timothy that he should study to show himself approved of God by rightly dividing the word of God. This also behooves us all to do the same by rightly keeping the word of the scriptures in the proper context so as not to misinterpret what God is conveying to each of us.

Jehovah God spoke to Moses of three signs he was to be given in the fourth chapter of Exodus and spoke of only these three things to do in the presence of the people of Israel. These three signs were demonstrated in the presence of the people as was written about in Exodus 4:29 thru 31 and the people believed Moses.

The choice is yours, will you believe God’s Word or the words of a false teacher and a false prophet?

When God gave Moses two signs, it was to get the people of Israel to believe that God had sent them to free them from bondage. The "signs or plague" you referred to about the water to blood, along with the frogs, flies, lice, etc., were to punish Pharaoh and the unbelievers for not obeying the Word of God given to him through Moses. The signs that Brother Branham was given (as unto Moses) was to help the people believe and have faith that God indeed was working through his Prophet. I prayed this morning and did not even expect this clear revelation but praised God that he allowed me to see it. God Bless.

Thank you for your comment Anonymous, but some untrue and unscriptural statements that you made cannot stand as the final word on this subject. They are as follows:

1.The scripture states that God gave Moses three signs to display to get the Israelites to believe that God had sent him to deliver the people, not two signs. The scripture says that all three of these signs were done before the people, they saw them demonstrated and consequently believed that God did send Moses.

Just to remind everyone that according to William Branham, he claimed that an angel stated that he was being given two signs just as Moses was given two signs. If an angel actually stated this, he was in error with what the scriptures said and if so, this so called angel could not have been an angel from God or he would have quoted the scripture correctly and he didn’t.

2.The second error that you stated was that Brother Branham was a prophet. Very well in fact if he was a prophet, he was a false prophet due to the known facts that some of his prophecies did not come to pass as he stated that they would.

Brother Branham might have been given the gift of prophecy at times, but a real prophet of God would be one hundred percent accurate with all of his prophecies and William Branham was not.

There is a difference between having a gift of prophecy and holding the God ordained office of a prophet. William Branham knew this, believed this and stated this many times.

A true God ordained prophet would only speak what God has given him to speak and would never say anything contradictory to what the scriptures say.

William Branham taught things that were in contradiction to the scriptures and because of this he could not have been a God sent prophet.

3.The third sign about pouring the water from the river and becoming blood as he poured it upon dry ground was a sign to the Israelites to prove Moses’ commission from God. It had nothing to do with Aaron striking the water with his rod and turning all the water in Egypt to blood. Two separate and different events.

All of this has been made very clear in all of my writings and is according to bible scripture. If anyone doesn’t want to believe what I teach then read the scriptures yourself without William Branham’s interpretation influencing your understanding.

The bible contains God’s inspired word and not William Branham’s word.

The message of the hour for the people today is to go back to the bible and believe what it says.

False prophets and false teachers have been standing behind the pulpits in our churches for years and are prevalent today in the churches teaching in error, their own private interpretation of scripture.

Once again, the word for today is to return to the bible and believe what is says!

I was responding to the two signs according to scripture, again, it says nothing of three signs. Only two signs were needed to help the people believe and have faith. The other things that were done, the water turned to blood, the frogs, the lice, etc.. were all done as punishments to Pharoah and his people because they refused to heed to God's command. Brother Branham was given two signs to also help those who needed signs to help them believe and increase their faith, such as Moses was given.

My calling from God is to defend the bible, especially the words of God which are recorded in the pages of scripture.

From the beginning satan has disputed the truth of God’s word and has used who he will to distort what is written in the bible and has done that throughout the ages.

The subject of this article concerning the number of signs that God gave Moses in order to prove to the people of Israel that God had sent him to deliver the people is just another example of his efforts to cause doubt in the truth of God’s word.

This debate over the number of signs that were given to Moses is serving a twofold purpose. Not only is it being used to instill doubt in the veracity of God’s word, it is also being used by satan to support the claims that William Branham was actually commissioned by an angel of God.

It has been made clear by William Branham’s own words that he was told about receiving two signs, just as Moses was given two signs to get people to believe him about being sent by God.

It’s a fact by the words of God in the fourth chapter of Exodus that Moses received not two, but three signs. Only if satan can deceive the reader of these scriptures, it is as clear as a bell about the number of signs that Moses received.

Anyone that opposes what these scriptures actually say is actually being deceived or is nothing more than just being obstinate in order to support the claim made by William Branham.

Why would anyone deny the truth recorded in the scriptures in favor of the false teaching of William Branham? The reason is because of the deceptive influence by the evil spirit of satan to support false teaching that suits his objective.

If we deny the truth contained in the bible for the purpose of supporting false teaching by any man, we are serving the cause of the devil.

My calling is to expose these works of satan and urge everyone to believe what the scriptures actually say. All of my work is to urge everyone to flee from the false teaching of man and return to the truth of what the bible says.

Just as Elijah, John the Baptist and many others in the bible speak against those who satan is using by calling them out as evil doers supporting the works of the devil, I do also and will continue to do so as long as I have a voice in which to do so with.

The words that I say are about the truth of the bible and provide everyone the opportunity to learn about what the scriptures are saying to us all. How can anyone possibly turn their back on the truth of God’s word in favor of the false teaching of any man is beyond me.

Was the light above the head of William Branham in the picture made possible to support the works of God, or does it support the work of the devil to deceive so many by the false teaching of scripture.

Ask yourselves this question: who should you believe? Do you believe the word of God or the word of man? God is asking you this question today.

What is your answer?
